Sweet Tweets

Someone who doesn't know me, nor owes me anything, nor has any reason to try to get on my good side tweeted something really, REALLY, lovely about the story I had published in a new literary magazine called Dactyl.

"Reading through the 1st issue of @Dactylzine. @Abisea (that's me)'s story is a thing of beauty and power. Can't believe it's her 1st ever submission" he said.

Ooft. I mean, it made my day. My week! Totally unprompted and unexpected. If he could only know the cobwebs he blew away with that one little act of kindness, he'd be so chuffed he had that superpower!! And then, to add an extra layer of magic, the people at the magazine replied with:

"She knocked it out the park when she read it out at the launch, too".

People saying nice things about my work!

Part of me feels like a shameless boaster for committing this to Blip, but the other part of me wants to be able to come back to this day, far off in the future. For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a writer - and if nothing ever happens again, at least I know that something I wrote affected someone enough to tell people about it.

To me, that's success. I'm happy with that! Ludicrously so!
