A working man

The words came out before I could stop myself. "May I take your picture please"? To which the answer was an embarrassed "Yes".

I don't do portraits and I don't do b&W. It is not a good photo and I would like constructive criticism.

There are obvious faults with this, such as the background clutter, but can anyone tell me how to make this much more dramatic please?
