Save Our Reds

The charity I work for is raising funds all this week to help with the conservation and recovery efforts of the Red Squirrels on the Sefton Coast, Merseyside. The Wildlife Trust along with the National Trust own a large area of coastal woodlands that have a resident population of Red Squirrels which is one of the few places in England where you can see them. Sadly over the last few years the numbers have crashed from 1500 to 100 as a result of the squirrel pox virus which is carried by the non native grey squirrels. All the money raised will go to support a consevation officer whose job it is to maintain a grey squirrel free buffer zone around the woodlands and monitor the recovery rates of the Reds.
