Russian dolls

I have not taken a picture of these dolls because I find them pretty or anything else. These dolls are a piece of history! They are 40 years old made during Leonid Brezhnev's presidency in the midst of the Cold War, and were bought by my father in Moscow in 1974. My father used to go to Moscow to help install computer servers (don't ask the purpose...It's probably obscure) (no he was not a computer geek, in fact he was a qualified woodcarver) and so upon his returns he used to bring me a present. These dolls were one of them. The colours have faded but the smell of the wood when you open them is still very strong (and intoxicating I find! I don't know why but I love this smell). Another of his presents were a black rabbit fur coat! I was about 5 and he was disappointed that I did not wear it to go to school.... To please him my mother put it on me and it was far too tight and the weather was too mild too for this kind of clothing... When I got to school, I was stared at like if I was something from another planet! I felt so uncomfortable, I was mortified in fact! When I got home, I told my mother that I would never wear it again. What was my father's reaction? That is for another post I am afraid....
