Learning day by day

Day in London with the boychild

William got to choose what we did today. So our day entailed getting a train at 08.30 to London, being in the queue for the Natural History Museum by 09.35. This was genius as we were in before opening time at 10am (they opened at 09.45) and straight into the Dinosaur gallery while others were still staring at the skeleton in the great hall.

He loved the dinos. In his words, "They are amazing!". I worried he would be scared of the animated T-Rex as C and her friend G freaked out back in 2011. But no, his exact words were "He's cute!"

We then wandered around the corridors as William was convinced he was going to bump into Andy from Cbeebies! Once he was happy that that wasn't going to happen, he decided he wanted to go to the Science Museum.

We went straight to Level 3 and stopped at the Briefing Room for the interactive story about stars. William was a blue star. Then we messed around in the launch Pad until Mummy persuaded W to stop for lunch. We then headed down to the basement for the Bubble Show, which was great. Bubbles big, small and huge. Back upstairs to the Launch Pad for more playing and then a signed story about the History of Flight. William learnt to sign ornithopter which I am sure will come in useful in daily life! He also took part in the flight of the first hot air balloon as a sheep. Yes you read that right. Then, bless his heart, at the end he went up to the story teller, who was deaf, and signed Thank you off his own bat. Then he went to the guy who was the voice and did the same to him. The story teller had the biggest smile after he thanked her.

So we are in South Kensington and W decides he would like to go to the zoo! Ok, say I as I have our tickets with me as that was my intention after the Natural History Museum. So we trekked half way across London just to see the Rainforest, but on the plus side we got tea at a reasonable price.

A long walk to Mornington Crescent tube then took place, as Camden was still shut when we got there (it shouldn't have been, it was after 4pm). We got to KC to find the train I was aiming for cancelled and made the stopper by the skin of our teeth.

I have had a lovely day without one bit of silliness from W. He says he has had a lovely day too. I think he will sleep well tonight.
