MONOMONDAY: Wood
We took our four-year-old to London for the first time today as it's the start of the Easter holidays from school. We had a fantastic time doing the tourist bit, seeing Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, the Natural History Museum and riding on the tube.
But what my princess-obsessed girl really wanted was to see the Queen's 'house' so we went to Buckingham Palace.
I took a lot of pictures of wood today in various places, including this one of a Royal Guardsman in his wooden sentry box. There was also an empty sentry box and an armed policeman nearby, to which Nancy said "the policeman has got a hutch too". Hilarious!
I didn't think I'd pick this one of a Household Guardsman to convert to mono for MONOMONDAY because it would mean losing his terrific red jacket. But actually I liked the very clear differences in tones in this picture and they way the white on his uniform really stands out.
