The Coplish Wood
I was on my way home from a much-needed gym visit when I passed this pretty woodland glade on the lane towards our house. The lane curves over a little bridge over the Coplish Burn, and at the corner there is an old bench. The wood, where snowdrops grow, followed by these daffodils, is in the grounds of a big house. I have never met these near-neighbours. The gates into the grounds work electronically and I've never seen a soul around.
Mr C and I are beginning to get to grips with the fact that, due to a big birthday of his, our travel insurance has leapt up to what amounts to the price of a holiday in itself. Apparently this is because he wants to ski and perhaps dare to take himself to altitudes of over 10,000 ft. The way my creative accountancy works is that to make this expense worth while we must take lots of trips. As our planned autumn trek in Sikkim has had to be shelved due to #2 daughter reproducing, we are now thinking we'll travel out to Australia. We've always been put off by the size - how is it possible to decide which bits to see? Also it will be winter there. But we'll have to focus! I'm really excited!
