April 9th 2009 - A barrel load of bananas
I had a hangover this morning so bad that I was unable to even force cereal down my throat before work. We were going to a farm much farther away than any other time so far so the pick up ride was not the most fun in my condition. But we were met by a nice lady with some lovely home-made cheese and juice and it made me think that the day would be getting better. However, possibly due to my hangover, I was imagining that we were part of some cheap horror movie where we would be separated and slowly picked off by this nice ladies crazy brother. Luckily this didn’t happen.
We started clearing Mora bushes and the alcohol was having another effect – the dehydration was making me itchy and uncomfortable as the alcohol was being sweated out. I rehydrated a little and was given a new task for my troubles – shovelling manure into a wheelbarrow. I started and was quickly told I was shovelling the wrong stuff as she wanted the old, crusty stuff, not the fresh stuff. Not a fun hangover cure.
Next task, after trying to steal a few moments in the shade, was to dig up a couple of orange trees. The first was easy but the second was difficult and the boiling sun and bending over was making me feel sick. I finally finished task and finally got to relax in the shade for a bit after carrying the trees over to where the others were. I stopped working, hungover, itchy from dehydration and so hot that I may have been more sweat than man. Sexy.
Before the pick up came we got to fell a banana tree (with it falling on me) and drink the juice we then made – Soren is here with the fruit that he dropped on me! We then headed home and this evening I headed to town to pick up my laundry and have ice cream with Soren, Camilla and the Louises. Back at the flat we had a simple tea before playing cards and doubles monopoly – I needed an easy evening after last night!
