Serenity in the South

How serene the Brisbane River looked today. It's Friday so I was on my way to choir on the CityCat.

The serenity is all the more remarkable as Tropical Cyclone Ita closes on the north-east of Queensland, about a 2000km drive north from Brisbane. Some areas have been evacuated, power is lost already ahead of the cyclone making landfall and wind speeds to 300km per hour are expected, followed by a potentail storm surge.

Queenslanders are accustomed to extreme weather experiences. They'll need all their resilience tonight. Landfall is estimated to be at around midnight local time (3pm Friday afternoon UK time).
