Hospitals, homes & host to the world ....

Didn’t see much today but did go to Hylands Park for lunch with Mrs K. Doesn’t often happen that I get lunch with the wife, so it was a real treat. Hylands Estate is about 300 years old. It has been owned by brewery magnates, an explorer, pilots, a failed politician and a banker. It has been used as a hospital, home, airfield, SAS headquarters, POW camp, site for the World Scout Jamboree and the massive V2 festival each year. It’s even hosted a jeep race up the staircase. One past owner was keen on community action & had a new church built on the local racecourse. It’s got great views, places to walk and was full of people catching the Easter sunshine.
