Unreal Imagery

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is a popular technique, but to my mind can give very unreal results. Having said that, I love the HDR effect in the latest version of Snapseed which provided you reduce the strength of the effect provides a quick fix, adding contrast and drama to a shot.

Today however, for Chantler63's Shakespeare Challenge for April, I pushed the effect on this shot of my garden gate latch to produce this somewhat unreal image.

Shakespeare was thought to have coined the word unreal, which first appeared when Macbeth was haunted by Banquo's ghost, and bade it: Hence, horrible shadow! Unreal mockery, hence!.
