The accidental finding

Crete day 4

In which a shy donkey is hiding under an olive tree! Met up with my brother, his wife and my niece today. They took me to a mountain village called Spili, with a spring and a "path to the Holy Spirit", then over a mountain pass with breathtaking views, to a beach on the south coast of Crete called Three rocks beach. After cooking ourselves, swimming and picknicking, we went via a long and winding road, in places just a bumpy dirt road, to the resort village of Plakias, stopping on the way at this location which had an old bridge over a stream, and some animals. We could see some monasteries nearby.

Eventually we drove back to Rethymnon and had a meal in the old town, and I arrived back at the same time as Una and Janet, so went upstairs to their hotel room on the floor above mine for a medicinal raki and honey. They seem to have sore throats, whereas I have sunburn and have to keep the room unnaturally heated in order to stop myself from shivering!

Thank you for all your lovely comments, many of which I have not answered yet. My sheep blip of a couple of days ago hit the first page of the spotlight, which is an honour I've rarely, if ever, had before now.

Tomorrow the monastery, apparently. Better drink up, as this may be my last night of freeedom!
