THEY ARE BACK

I suppose you all know the Osprey. These two have just returned from where ever the go when it gets cold, probably California, maybe Mexico. They are fish hawks, and dive from high up, smash into the water, and catch fish. Then fly around to show you how good they are. Somebody here puts up telephone poles with these platforms on them for them to nest on. Of course some of them are old school and nest in trees. There is one on each side of the ferry, both occupied. You can see how the wind was by the raised feathers.
I once laid on my back in a rubber raft on a high mountain lake, and watched a Bald Eagle chase an Osprey who had a trout. They went round and round higher and higher until they were just dots in the blue. Then there was a flash of a falling silver fish. The Eagle went into a dive and picked it off in mid air!
Oops! I just looked again, and this platform is on top of a fir tree.
