It occurs to me that I could swap out a lot of the jokes in the strip by just updating the tech - the answering machine joke works as well with voicemail; the DVD one from yesterday would work with a new HDTV. This one - I looked at it for a minute trying to figure out what the joke was - and then realized, duh, they don't have the ability to stop what they're watching. When I was a kid, you had to time bathroom breaks, food stops, and whatever else between commercials, and if you missed that program (and this was especially true of the holiday specials), tough luck because you weren't seeing it again until next year. I imagine in 20 years you'll be able to walk into the Internet and probably meet Tad in person. Tell him I said hello.

* I reread this and realized that even my examples of how I could update the strip are out of date. Who uses voicemail anymore? Or email?
