Burnsall Bike Ride

Well there's bits all over the carpets and the bathroom is not fit for visitors but the sun shone today so we took the bikes out and had a ride around Wharfedale. We cycled the back road (in our Grand Depart jerseys, we are so cheesy!) through Bolton Abbey and Barden Towers to Appletreewick, stopping at the cafe in Burnsall for toasted teacakes (the best we have had for a long time!) and cups of tea. There were two other couples sitting out in the sunshine with us and, as is sometimes the case when two men of a certain age who do not know each other get together, there arose a pissing spirited competition on the subject of who has the best motorhome/who has been to the most places in their motorhome/who can name the best motorhome campsites. It couldn't have been better scripted!

There was a very fine framed photo of the Brownlees in the cafe which yearofhappy would probably have stolen acquired. I can imagine they are frequent visitors on their training runs around the Dales. I picked up a fridge magnet and some postcards from the village store then we set off back to Addingham.
