What to wear?

With unpredictable weather in the Lakes it is always hard to know what to wear to go up the mountain, Robbie's choice was a zebra onesie…

Beewriter and I started the day with a swim and a rather longer soak on the jacuzzi, before I headed off to Tesco to buy the first lot of provisions for the Lakes trip - 100 bananas, 80 apples, 16 garlic baguettes, 4kg pasta and so on…. and then I set off for Keswick.

The afternoon was a short walk up Latrigg, Tom sad to have to turn back as it got steep as he's only 3 weeks on from the knee op so not ready for hills yet.

Our second shopping trip of the day was rather more upmarket - ordering 25 Cumbrian sausage swirls for tomorrow from the wonderful Thomasons butchers, and then off to Booths - a supermarket that makes Waitrose look common. 'Do you have pancetta I asked?', 'Of course, we have five different types, which would you prefer?"

Five of us then prepared a hearty meal for the hungry walkers, followed by the quiz I'd prepared the night before. Having solved the quiz, they worked out the anagram and found their chocolate treasure. A big day tomorrow, so off to bed early. As the women's dorm is the only one with Lino not carpet, we were destined to have the dogs in with us. Lovely Eddie would be no problem , but we looked in dismay at young Sam who yaps and howls at very movement and the other Rachel hatched an inspired plan, found a space in the men's dorm and persuaded the hostel owner to allow Sam and Charlie to sleep in dog beds down there…. we were free! The men and boys watched in dismay as the two dogs were returned to them, pulling their earplugs from toiletries bags and sighing heavily as we skipped off in glee.
