Living in Brabant

Don't eat the daisies

We had a good journey on the Eurostar yesterday, checked into our hotel, dumped our bags and went to the nearest pub for a celebratory Guinness.
It tasted goooooood.

This morning it was overcast, which was a huge contrast to yesterday. We had an excellent full English breakfast at a wonderful greasy spoon cafe right next to King's Cross station. The food was cheap, plentiful, and vegetarians were also catered for. Hurrah!

It says something about the quality of the place, that three Frenchmen in Eurostar uniforms came in and had their breakfast!

Later on we walked to the British Museum, via Russell Square. The squirrels were really tame, this one readily posed whilst happily munching on a dandelion flower.

The rest of the day we walked, and walked, and walked. We had coffee and lemon meringue pie in the restaurant at John Lewis, then walked on to Selfridges. Then (via Green Park) we went to Hatchers and Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly, rounding off our route down Whitehall, ending up at the Houses of Parliament. It had started to rain by then, it was the end of the day, so we decided it was time to take the tube back to the hotel, freshen up, and go for an excellent Indian meal.

All-in-all, a great day!
