One Happy Dog

Well JB has been back for a day or two now, and to say he is happy is an understatement. He's also a little calmer we think, but not sure. He got the manly chop last week, poor guy, and according to the vet hasn't even noticed they are gone. They didn't even bother with a Victorian collar as he hasn't even noticed the stitches in his....uhum, manly parts (or what's left of them).

Interestingly, they did a mange test on him yesterday when we picked him up and I was not happy about it, I felt they were padding their already high vet bill a little more to the tune of $30. They want to see about getting him off his mange medication now that he'll have much lower testosterone levels.

And I was annoyed because he has no mange - he's taking a bucket load of the medecine for the condition, he was free of it last year - why would it return??? But they wanted a control.

But I didn't say anything.

Anyway, vet called back today after she had read all his notes and freely admitted to us that they didn't need to have done the test afterall and was refunding the test fee! They have decided that right on the edge of flea season was not the best time to take him off his meds, and that we'll do it in January next year.

(Essentially fleas irritate the skin, which irritates mange).

Having said all that though, we have an extremely happy dog bouncing round the house.

We're trying to teach him that he can tear up my wife's old "Rockport" work trainers, but not my "Reebok" work trainers. And he seems to be following that....for now.
