Suilven
This morning my brother in law and my other half left early to go and climb Suilven. This is quite a challenge as it is a very long walk from Inverkirkaig, 7 miles inland before you even start the ascent of the mountain.
"Suilven is one of the most distinctive mountains in Scotland. Lying in a remote area in the west of Sutherland, it rises almost vertically from a wilderness landscape of moorland, bogs and lochans known as Inverpolly National Nature Reserve." Wikipedia
As the climb involved a lot of scrambling I decided not to join them, not fit enough and not much of a climber. We went for lunch instead. My niece and I then walked to meet them on their descent. We took a wrong turn at one point and ended up in the middle of a bog. We did eventually meet them and it was quite a good walk for us too at just under 8 miles.
Out for dinner tonight, another lovely meal and now sitting by the fire. Last night tonight as sadly we go home tomorrow. Hopefully we will be back to this area as we have loved it!
