Dear Abby

Maybe not the usual "Dear Abby ..." letter ;-)

Today is tidy up day, "sort out house and last minute Christmas cards" etc. Then a BBQ with friends this afternoon, a quiet family "Christmas Day" tomorrow - just us doing things together. And then the rest of the family are of to Auckland on Monday for the start of the big summer holidays. I head up later in the week.

The madness begins.

Note the camera info ... yes, it arrived! This is photo number 4, already I am super impressed. Canon really has taken the EOS line to a new level and this feels and acts more like a Pro camera. Lots of changes, like some reorientation of buttons and menus required. Already I love it. Wow!

First impressions:
* It seems heavy
* It uses a different battery to the 40D, and you can't really use cheaper aftermarkets - bugger!
* The grip is quite different
* The screen is fantastic
* Those extra buttons, what do they all do?
* The shutter is quieter
* It now has a grid in the viewfinder - finally!
* It has video - no idea of and how I'll use it.
