A tree that won't give up

Twenty years ago or thereabouts the rather shattered looking stump on the shore of Buttermere stood tall and proud with a full canopy of branches and leaves before lightning and winter storms shattered it.
Leaving it with a single bough that looks like desperately outstretched arm, seeking help that never came.
For a couple of years it appeared dead, then bit by bit it struggled to produce a few leaves, now every spring, it puts fourth buds.
In a couple of months it will be splendid once again.
If you pass it, take a look, it deserves your interest!
a symbol of hope against hopeless odds!
