Boulders catch the first light

Lovely light at the top of the Britten Reserve this morning.

For those of you who have been following the development of my lithops plant, here is a picture taken today with flowers out on five of the seven bodies. All the flowers close up at night, and re-open the next afternoon. You can see how the flowers that have come out the most times are larger than the newer ones, and that the centre becomes less oval-shaped with time as it escapes from the narrow cleft between the two halves of the lithops body, which the bud pushes through.
