MONOMONDAY: Transport
I'd been wanting to have an excuse to revisit what remains of the Zig Zag Railway, once again. Any lingering hope that the venture might have re-opened seems permanently dashed. The potential cost of recommissioning the system would now seem quite beyond any volunteer organisation lacking major corporate or government support. Let's hope I'm wrong ............ sadly I won't be.
These may not be the authentic rails and timber sleepers but until 1910, the trackbed beneath them bore the original railway transport west from Sydney across the Blue Mountains into the New South Wales interior. Then the main western line route (at this end of the locality) was entirely replaced. The brave attempt to recreate the original line, by a volunteer organisation, survived for a surprising number of years ... only (finally) to fall victim to the shortage of skilled labour and the apparent lack of professional business planning.
This is my contribution to the great MonoMonday:Transport challenge hosted by ffredsmum.
