Through the window
Monday
Today, Roger was taking me down to my sister's, near Gloucester, to stay for a week while he is in the States on business. He had suggested to his parents that they might like to come along with us, for a day out, since they don't get out much these days, and they seemed to like the idea. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, since in the middle of the night, Roger's Mum fell in the bedroom and broke her hip. His Mum was scheduled for surgery in the morning, so Roger went in to see her before we left, since he wouldn't be back in time to see her later, and then is leaving first thing tomorrow morning. We got a text from his sister en route to my sister's to say she was out of surgery and on her way back to the ward. In the afternoon, we went for a walk along the River Severn, along with Janet and Wispa, her Belgian shepherd, in fields which had been under a foot or so of water when we were last here at Christmas time. I took this shot from my bedroom window soon after our return. No more than an hour later, it was quite a different scene, with rain lashing down outside and thunder and lightening. Roger left early evening to return to his sister's, ready for his departure from Manchester airport tomorrow morning. When he called later to let me know he had arrived, he was able to tell me that his sister had visited their Mum in the afternoon and again in the evening. In the afternoon she had understandably been somewhat groggy, but in the evening, was well enough to be complaining about the food and showing interest in what was on the menu for the next day!
