Oogie

My daughter's cat was a poor sick cat when he came to stay with her a year plus ago and be her love. He had been bitten by a snake at some juncture of his life to then. He walked with a strange gait that was thought to be caused by the bite. He cried. He cried and cried. Out. As if searching, calling out for that which was lost and he would never be consoled so he paced.

This poor anxiety ridden animal had been considered mentally deranged as result of the snake bite. The strange walk deteriorated from time to time as if he would fall over sideways or his back legs would give way under him. He walked in circles. His frights were many. Finding something he would eat enough of to build up his health was a battle. He was entirely skin and bone. Slowly, he started to respond to the care he received from his new owner who once feared she might fail nursing him to health.

Oogie enjoys other people. How eccentric. When a visitor who is close or if I visit Oogie's owner, Oog's interest is pretty well immediately to get nearby or close. He stretched out today at a short distance from my feet where we were socialising at the backyard table and extended one long elegant leg to full length so his paw could touch on the toe of one of my sneakers with the claws gently extended, slightly curled out as if to grip. His behaviour is passive and quiet. Today my daughter was looking forward to my visit from viewpoint I could see how Oog has put on weight.
