The new nest

I blipped the old nest on 1st April but that was abandoned and the eggs eaten by foxes, apparently? However, the young Swan couple have taken up a safer residence in the grounds of the Boat Yard on our stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal and normal service has been resumed; 7 eggs so far, apparently!

I took tea after work with H & K on their narrowboat currently moored for a while in the Boat Yard and they showed me videos they had taken of the current nest building activities, lots of fetching and carrying by the Swans who at one point were keen on having their mooring ropes as part of their nest!

A temporary orange netting fence has been put round the nest so I had to take a quick blip from above. Not sure who put the large piece of dead Conifer there though!!
