Keep Dancing!
Today sees the start of the summer session of Keep Dancing at the Macrobert Arts centre.
And we have a new recruit in our class, R. a recently retired teacher. She says she is amazed at the number of cultural opportunities now awaiting her, activities that she never had time for while working fulltime.
She has already signed up for The River dance, a huge intergenerational professional and community dance project organised by Barrowland Ballet in Glasgow, which will help, launch the Commonwealth Games in July. Choirs will be involved too.
Meanwhile we have been asked if we want to participate too but so far we hesitate because of the frequent and intensive rehearsals required
Our dance artist today was Salma Faraji
a very energetic and enthusiastic dancer from Barrowland Ballet. She did not become a professional dancer until she was in her 40s.
