A brave mother

This female duck was very brave as she kept placing herself between her 4 ducklings and the male swan at the artificial island when he swam past them.

The Coot stayed firmly on its nest when I stopped at the artificial island on the way home and I could only get a very brief glimpse of the swan's eggs. None of them seemed to have hatched yet.
