After the March

Australians (and New Zealanders) everywhere celebrated our 99th Anzac Day today with ceremonies, marches and moving services.

When the serious formalities are over, many continue to honour tradition with a game of two-up. This simple form of gambling, where one bets on the fall of two coins, was popular amongst the diggers in the First World War. See LARGE.

The laws governing playing two-up vary from state to state but generally it is illegal in Australia except on Anzac Day, although according to the Find Law website "Anyone who participates in an illegal two-up game has a defence if they did not know the game was illegal"??

While I was at the two-up, my husband was attending a more formal ceremony where he got this fabulous candid shot of a Blackheath blipper blipping :-))))
