Sepia vines

On a dull day like today the scenery is all grey clouds and sepia vines. I like the way that in winter you can see the rows of vines curving with the hillside and a bit of colour between the rows where the fallen leaves and pruned shoots have been tidily discarded.

Bad news on the Eurostar journey as people with tickets for Wednesday (as our son and daughter have) will not be allowed on to trains that run on that day, but will be 'eligible' (but not guaranteed) for a seat on one of the trains on Thursday, Christmas eve. The company doesn't seem to have realised that a lot of travellers will have tickets for connecting trains in Paris and won't be able to get a seat on Thursday! I'm very angry and disappointed, but we've all decided that it's best to postpone our family festivities until next month. We're lucky we all have partners and friends so that none of us will spend the holiday alone.
