I can't make it up

First of all. Tonight rocked.
We had a gig that was a fund raiser for my chorus. We are are attending the Sister Singers festival in Champaign Urbana, Illinois in July. We are raising funds for that trip.

First of all, I was so nervous. ThenI had some words of encouragement and that helped.
Our run through was a bit rough. We debuted (I CAN'T get that word right) 3 new songs and I was nervous. We have well over 50 plus songs and I have them all memorized.
Anyway it was a great gig and we were very very pleased. We did very well.
This venture is called the Champagne Campaign. Get it? We are going to Champaign Illinois. We celebrated we had champagne after.
Our concert was on the sanctuary of St Luke's cathedral in Portland. A beautiful episcopal church with incredibly beautiful acoustics.
We did the first set, then went downstairs to the kitchen to get the champagne we earlier placed in the fridge.
We stopped at the door.
To get to the kitchen you have to walk across a big room which was empty when we started the afternoon. However......At about 7:45 it was holding an AA meeting.
I am so not kidding you.
We had 6 bottles of champagne, 3 bags of ice, and fruit to bring upstairs. I had a group of people to help and about 10 minutes to put them on ice to get them ready.
Ok my worse dream.
To interrupt an AA meeting by walking through and then BACK again carrying bottles of champagne just seemed wrong. We all stood outside the door speechless as the reality of what we had to do hit us. Come to find out, there was a back staircase so we only had to stand outside the door and enter the kitchen.
Crisis averted.
We held a champagne reception. It was great.
After we were done cleaning up and we were putting everything back in the sanctuary, I noticed that we had one bottle of champagne left and it occurred to me.......we should just drink it.

Btw how many other geniuses have had that thought?
We should just drink it.
Not a good thought.

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time for Ingrid, Shelly, Julie and myself to finish it off. We were laughing and having a lot of fun when all of a sudden.........every alarm went off in the church. Did I mention this is a cathedral? A big stone cathedral.
It was loud.

There is a retired priest living upstairs that Julie woke up, Ingrid went off in search of a rest room and Shelly and I sat huddled together.
Shelly thought it would be a good idea to not have open champagne and full glasses of it when the police came.
It was our duty to handle this.
Needless to say, the police were called and diverted.
Pretty Girls in the clink........name of new CD.

Julie works for this church. I so hope her job is safe.

Probably not as funny in translation however .....I wasn't driving, had a lot of champagne and thought it was hysterical.

My blip shows the champagne we served......This the main church behind it. We performed in the sanctuary directly behind me.

So ibuprofen, water and sleep.

Seems to be the solution.

Time for bed ...........
