Bowhill

Our visit for today; Bowhill House & Estate, generated a fair few conversations about wealth, generosity and philanthropy, particularly in light of the fact that the 51st richest man in the UK did not see fit to reduce the prices to the 'grounds only' admission ticket despite the fact that the adventure playground was out of action. Still, perhaps the current Duke of Buccleuch (honest, kind and generous man that I'm assured he is) didn't get to be in such a position (wealth wise) because of his heritage, land holdings and art collections, but rather in actual fact because of his shrewd business sense vis a vis entrance ticket prices.

Anyway, we had a nice dander around the grounds while the boys undertook a treasure hunt and a lovely lunch in the cafe and some cracking cycling around the upper and lower lakes and the wee ones even enjoyed a private soft play experience, so all in all it was a grand day out.

Thanks go to my generous mother in law for paying our admission fee (and it's valid for a whole year, so we might even manage to go back!)
