Night Hike!
A few of the dedicated cyclists headed back to Glentress in the morning to have a go on the skills course and some of the longer blue routes and the rest of us travelled south towards Moffat to the Grey Mare's tail nature reserve.
The waterfall, named such because it is said to resemble the tail of a Grey Mare, is the fifth highest in the UK. It's pretty spectacular, particularly on a day of sunshine and showers as the valley around the waterfall is lit up by rainbows.
There is a short walk up from the car park to a place where you can get a cracking view of the water cascading down the rock face, but I can tell you now it's pretty terrifying walking up the narrow path when you are holding a wriggling almost 1 year old, nominally responsible for a fearless 7 year old and holding hands with a nervous 8 year old and your sight goes in one eye.
Thankfully my father-in-law took responsibility for the baby and the two older boys rose to the challenge and were incredibly sensible, leaving me to navigate my way back down the path with just one eye open. The full force of my migraine kicked in about an hour later but thankfully by then we were back at the house and I was under the duvet and absolved of all parenting responsibilities.
In the afternoon, after a quick egg hunt around the garden, most of the group headed into the big smoke of Galashiels to see Rio 2 at the cinema.
The quiet afternoon, the sleep and the paracetamol gave me enough strength to kick the headache and join the hardy for a last night night hike up the hill behind our house.
