Valkyries

[Backblipping]

Went to Point Loma, which is where the first European expedition came ashore in what is now called California. But really we went to see the tide pools that are nearby ;) As we were leaving this huge flock of pelicans flew overhead. One of my favourite sights on this holiday has been watching pelicans gliding along just above the waves but they were always gone before I could get a camera out, or too far away to be anything other than bots on the horizon. So I was pretty glad to get this photo.

For some reason, every time they flew past, I was reminded of the 'Valkyries' scene in 'Apocalypse Now' and would start humming the tune.
