From 1066 to 1939-45
Visited Dover Castle today. We set off in glorious sunshine, as you can see from Mum's picture, but by the time we had climbed to the top of the tower the mist was coming in and the view was disappearing. As the day went on it got quite thick and we couldn't see much at all.
The castle is quite extensive so we took the land train around the site. The tours of the underground hospital and the secret war tunnels were great and we learnt all about the evacuation of Dunkirk. A very interesting visit.
We did go to the White Cliffs visitors centre but it was no good trying to go along the walk to see the cliffs as the mist was quite thick by then.

At 12.30pm, as we weren't able to attend my aunt's funeral, we held our own little service at the same time as the funeral was taking place. We were there in spirit. RIP dear Aunt.
