Cowpers Alcove

I lived a couple of miles from Cowpers Alcove for over 30 years and never knew this pretty little folly existed. My daughter-in-law took me there this afternoon. It was a gorgeous afternoon so on the way home from the airport she took me to see their new house and on the way we stopped off at Cowpers Alcove.

It was built in 1753 and William Cowper wrote many of his hymns including "Morning Has Broken" whilst sitting in the folly. A lovely afternoon.
