All fingers and thumbs...

This is Oscar, my cat castrate candidate today. He is a polydactyl or thumb cat or Hemingway cat. Oscar has a larger than usual dew claw to make it look like a thumb and an extra digit too. Polydactyl cats were popular ships cats, it was thought that they were lucky mascots and could balance better with extra toes. It is a dominant gene that is responsible for the extra toes or large thumb so only one copy of the gene from either parent is required. I haven't seen one in ages, my friend who introduced me to Blip, GuernseyNix, had a lovely ginger tom who was polydactyl I'm sure. The maximum recorded number of toes on a cat is 32!

Today was so busy at work, so many poorlies admitted that the kennels were full. We had a lunch and learn from a drug rep about a great drug to help with senility. After work it was straight to a school parents society meeting in the pub. The meeting was fine but the amount of wine required for the after meeting meeting with Hels was vast and maybe not a great decision on my behalf!
