May Day dew

According to folklore it was customary to wash the face in the dew on May Day morning because the dew apparently has magic properties which makes the complexion flawless and beautiful.
So each May Day I have tried to wash my face in the dew but this morning it had to be in raindrops instead. However I wonder how more haggard looking I would be if I hadn’t followed the tradition each year. Perhaps it doesn’t appear to have worked as the dew has to be collected before dawn and generally I haven’t got up early enough.
