'Weir Wood'
It's May Day! Lovely May..my favourite month of the year.
The Countryside is looking very beautiful at the moment.. the Cow Parsley and the May Blossom is really lovely this year.
This was a scene at Weir Wood Reservoir nr Forest Row this afternoon. The reservoir was first flooded in 1954 and is owned by Southern Water. The wildlife on the site increased so much that it was listed a Site of Special Scientific interest in 1966. Southern Water recognised the importance of the wildlife at the shallow western end and designated this area as an informal nature reserve, excluding boating and fishing.
I'm not up to now, a great lover of photographing birds....but I must admit that I became more interested after sitting quietly for a while and eventually managing to get a few shots of a Greater Spotted Woodpecker.
I still prefer landscapes and flowers.
Shortly after I shot this photo the heavens opened.....the sky tells the story!
