What's so special about 7-7-07?

For one thing, it's my mom's birthday. Other than that, nothing. Numerological significance is purely based on an arbitrary starting point and an arbitrarily assigned numbering system. Of course, 7-7-07 is great for the wedding and gambling industry (aren't they the same thing?) just as 6-6-06 and 2000 was for the doomsayers.

Well, we spent part of the morning at the lavender festival. Scant moments from our home, we arrived before the crowd and the heat (another 100 degree day today). Lakeside Lavender is a small "farm" growing lavender in, so far, two smallish plots. The festival is in its second year, so it's rather small (though they expect 2,000 people to show up today and tomorrow). A less-than-handful of vendors selling pottery, watercolor paintings of flowers and lavender, lavender soap, lavender-inspired food, and lavender plants are on hand. Perhaps I will contact them about setting up a photography booth for next year.
