Getting wrapped up

Despite best intentions, the day flew by and I was eft rushing madly to get in to town to meet Carl before going on to our annual meeting with friends for present exchange and a few glasses of Christmas cheer.

The day began with a last-minute trip in to town for posh chocolates which I hadn't been able to find during other shopping outings, and this simple task took far more time than it should have thanks to the slow-moving queue for the car park. So I was behind time already when I settled down to some serious wrapping. The sellotape caused a few fiery moments of frustration when it insisted on sticking to itself rather than to the paper, but mission was finally accomplished and I got back close to schedule thanks to there being hardly any traffic on the roads on the way in to town at 4-ish.

The gang seems to get smaller each year, but we still had good fun until 6.45 when it was time to rescue the car before the car ark closed. We stopped off in Goggins in Monkstown (which was nicely busy, buzzing, and reminiscent of the good old times when pubs were fun places to be). Back in Carl's place we exchanged our own gifts (thanks for the gorgeous Apple Magic Mouse, Carl). The day ended with Ice Age 3 in Carl's Kino (the weakest of the three).
