A walk around the block
Thank you very much for the ideas regarding what yesterday's feathers might be and particularly to those of you who said Pheasant, as I hadn't thought of that. Anyway this morning I decided to investigate further and didn't have far to go before finding more feathers under the Beech tree a few yards up the road, together with a fox poo. So there we have it. A fox snaffled a pheasant and I rather hope it's the lame chap I see from time to time.
Chestnut Avenue is the road that leads to our close. It's very pretty except for the traffic calming humps and when the conkers drop onto the car in the autumn or turn into mush under the wheels.
I only discovered the name of the Scarlet Oak this morning when I picked up an old leaf and checked through my tree book. It has a lovely shape to it and I particularly like the colour of the young leaves.
