No.3 Marston to Rimpton Circuit

Shortly after leaving the Mill you will pass over the railway bridge and should now turn right down Netherton Lane. The house immediately on that corner is Chartwell house formerly the station masters house.
It was built as a 2 up/2 down in 1901 when the railway company decided someone should be on site 24/7. However the existing manager was a batchelor who lodged in nearby Camel Street. He was swiftly moved up line somewhere to make way for a more worthy family unit.
The station was axed by Beeching in the 1960's but the line is still used by mainline trains.
The well belonging to the house was converted to a septic tank when mains water was introduced to the village and the current occupiers have added a third storey to an already extended house.
