Wakehurst Place

We actually intended to visit Nymans Gardens today, but we arrived about 1pm to find notices up saying, "Car Park full, do not queue". There were, in fact, loads of cars queuing anyway (!) and cars parked at angles on the sloping grass verges alongside the road too! We thought "No thanks" and drove on to Wakehurst instead, which is also free to National Trust members (although they charge £10 to park for over 2 hours). We had a picnic in the car park (which was enormous but also nearly full!) and then a walk around the gardens for a few hours. The scent of the azaleas and rhododendrons was lovely and there were a lot of bluebells still looking very pretty as well. I had felt a bit ill at the beginning of the walk, but I think the fresh air did me a lot of good and I feel better now :-). Hope everyone (in the UK) has had a good Bank Holiday too.
