Duntulm Castle, Trotternish, Isle of Skye

Now a ruin, it was built in the 14th century and was, as now, in the hands of the Macdonald clan.

Excellent defensive site on the basalt cliff but hardly comfortable when the wind blows as today. Indeed the owners moved to a more comfortable spot in the 18th century leaving the castle to decay.

Now there are signs saying the structure is unsafe and fences surround it. These are easily overcome though. The warnings are to protect the owners from litigation if I'd been crushed by falling masonry.
