Self made winter breakfast

The cold is beginning to bite, and Mr A has discovered the joys of microwaved porridge. He measures it all out like a true scientist and gets very grumpy should anyone (ie mum) dare to help, even though reaching boiling hot items in the microwave is awkward for me, and dangerous for him.
Still, this is the boy who spent his weekend lighting fires and getting dirty, so what's the prospect of scalding oatmeal to him?!
