Heavy Particle...

It was surprisingly fun today at CH953 - Teamworking in a Research Environment. I should have taken this module during my first year in Warwick but I am just taking it now on my third year. It turned out, several participants have also not taken this during their first year. We get to do speed networking, logic problems, self-awareness test and a 3-min research presentation. I've enjoyed everything apart from the messed-up 3-min research presentation. However, i got something valuable from it as i was able to get some feedback from people on what i did wrong during my presentation. As expected, i was said to talk too fast. I couldn't really help myself when i have a lot of things that i want to say but is pressed with time.

Today was a good opportunity to also meet a lot of other people in different departments. And a few people were fascinated about my age and my English. It is one thing to be admired about my ability to speak in English but it is another to be told that i have the accent.

The photo in front of you is one of the logic problems that we worked on. Logic plus Physics to be exact. The goal was to move the darker balls to the right and the lighter balls to the left based on some very strict rules. We were able to figure out how to go about with the movement of the balls but it was quite difficult to move the actual balls given that we are 3 meters away from it and we are only to use strings and sticks and rubber bands. We were only able to do 2 out of the 15 moves that we need to accomplish as there was a twist to the whole challenge. Not all balls weigh the same. Some balls were heavier than the others. So when we got to the 3rd ball, which was the heaviest of them all, the contraption that we made didn't hold...or maybe we didn't have the right skills to manipulate our "ball-moving machine".
