FATnode Dinner : Persian and Tandoori at Earlsdon
Oh i should thank the heavens today for allowing the compute server's shutdown to be postponed! To many restarts have been done on my jobs and i dont seem to be getting enough results by the end of week. However, tomorrow's going to be a full half day of CSC desktop shutdown so I wont be accessing my files either. But i do have this Team Working module that is also set on the same downtime for the desktops and so something should keep me busy.
Today i received an email from my super to make a statement regarding my recent progress. It always makes me anxious to hear the word 'statement'. It seems very formal and heavy. I always feel like i needed to write something very very novel to qualify as a research statement. I have not done it yet and i hope i can find time in the next few days amidst the activities that i will be doing with my current module. I should target Friday as my deadline for submission. And i also need to decide if I am joining the meeting on June at York. hmmmm...
So today was this month's FATnode dinner. We took the group this time at a Persian restaurant in the midst of Earlsdon. The restaurant was pretty new as i can still smell the varnish or whatever they applied on the walls of their toilet. Amazingly, they have only one waiter for the entire night serving all the tables in the restaurant. A nice chap too! I particularly liked the Lamb with Herbs and Fish with Herbs. Those were not the actual names but you get the idea. Before i went to the buffet table, i particularly informed the group that i dont like aubergine and okra, and when i went to the buffet area, the aubergine and okra dishes greeted me straightaway! What are the odds that the two most despised dishes of my system is going to be there!
We had a lot of fun! Sugar overload. Wacky Faces. New Faces. Old Faces. and of course, Pretty Faces :)
