colours
These amazing colours appear on the rocks across the bridge over the River Etherow at Broadbottom.
A walk through Lymefield under grey skies revealed a lady up a tree building a sculpture of a bee's nest which will later have bees as well ( a must for a future photo).
We met a man walking his dogs who told us of a Nightingale singing nearby ( not this year ) which made us wonder if we would know one if we heard one - during the day that is, it would be pretty obvious at night. Listening to the song it would be possible to dismiss it or confuse it with Blackbird in some phrases but not overall.
Next was a brief sighting of 2 Swifts with 2 Swallows ( first Swifts of the year).
After crossing the bridge inspecting these rocks and meeting a Jack Russell dog having fun chasing stones we returned past the lady still working her willow as the rain started - very heavy and we got wet - very wet as we were distracted by more Swifts - 12 of them cutting through the clouds and the rain screaming as they went mopping up lots of flies - I wonder if they are tastier washed down with rain water.
4 more Swifts seen on Glossop High Street in tight formation around Wren Nest Mill - so after waiting and waiting they finally arrive and not when we expected on sunny days but on the wetest day for a long time, they obvious don't mind.
