Great Crested Grebe
A spur of the moment detour to the lake this afternoon and I'm so glad I did as the Great Crested Grebe has built a nest in a fallen willow tree that is visible from the footpath.
I took 125 pictures, several of which I've deleted and there were a lot of the female swimming out in the lake. This one really caught my eye as it shows them both on the nest and the male has this ruff puffed out which makes him look quite regal I thought and the female has her crest extended. I've not seen them looking so lovely before. The foliage detracts from the image of the pair, but hope you enjoy it anyway.
